About Me

Welcome to my blogsite. You can call me Florence. I am the author of two books that concern the works of Carlos Castaneda: Making Sense of the Life and Works of Carlos Castaneda, F. Lawrence Fleming (2018) and The Curious Case of Dr. Castaneda’s Twelve Pages of Field Notes (2023).

It has been my ambition to show that the “don Juan” character in the books by Carlos Castaneda was a real person, and that the historically accurate “teachings of don Juan” can be extrapolated from the literary works of Castaneda once we become aware of that author’s grave shortcomings as a social scientist and as a decent human being.

I have started this blog in order to create a forum in which the free exchange of ideas between author and reader is facilitated. Feel free to contact me by email if you have information or personal opinions relating to any of my blog posts or to the subject at hand. Three PDFs are available for download on this site in exchange for €10 towards the running and upkeep of both me and my blogsite. Searching for the Historical Juan Matus (331 pages) contains the text of both of the books mentioned above. Facing the Other Way (390 pages), first published 2015, does not directly concern the authorship of Carlos Castaneda, but is largely “about me” and should give you some idea of my own personal background and my motivations. A Suggestion on How to Read the Works of Carlos Castaneda (173 pages) is the actual reading text that relates to the blogpost with the same title on this site.
